Our editors and our readers like it when stories feature plain language, and are in tone with the CAGE voice, which is one of level-headedness, witnessing abuse, having compassion for survivors, calling for justice and accountability, and empowering others.

Stories should also bear in mind the diversity of our readership, and that we are an international organisation, with a global audience.

Our aim with all our content is to bring about a shift in debates around the securitisation of communities and discriminatory policies that have been rooted under the banner of the ‘War on Terror’.

Through this content, we hope to direct thoughts, inform those active in making change and ourselves bring about change in society for the better. New and verifiable information, emotive human stories and original, solid opinions can do this.

 

Our main areas of interest are:

  • Guantanamo Bay,
  • Torture and other prison sites around the world;
  • Dangers of PREVENT/CVE (Countering Violent Extremism);
  • MI5 harassment;
  • Schedule 7 or other traumatic stop-and-search experiences at borders; and
  • Evidence that counter-terrorism legislation is unnecessary and normalises authoritarian policies.
