London – The landslide victory of Boris Johnson’s brand of Islamophobic Conservatives should embolden us to be resolute in our work to establish truth and justice.

The UK has now elected its very own Donald Trump, and embraced the rising wave of far right politics that has swept Europe and the US. This inward turn is borne out of desperation and a lack of viable alternatives to a system that has enshrined inequality.

The values of justice and fairness have resonated with a large section of the population. We should carry the torch of truth and integrity, and push against the normalisation of deceit, lies and oppression.

The occupants of No.10 or the White House must not dictate our commitment to justice. We are humbled to be part of a grassroots movement standing up for the rights of the oppressed.

We call upon all to stand with us and be the voice of the voiceless. Together we can be part of the success that awaits those who strive to create a world free from oppression.

وَمِمَّنْ خَلَقْنَا أُمَّةٌ يَهْدُونَ بِالْحَقِّ وَبِهِ يَعْدِلُونَ

“And among those We created is a community which guides by truth and thereby establishes justice.” [Quran 7:181]
