CAGE are providing this khutbah template produced by Ustadh Abu Haneefah Sohail for Eid ul-Fitr 1443/2022, covering the themes of gratitude, the oppression facing Muslims worldwide, and the importance of standing as one Ummah.

Practical actions in the khutbah include:

  • Ensuring that as a community we are well-informed and recognise our responsibility.
  • After awareness, the greatest thing we can do is to take a side and to show solidarity. Yes, take a side and don’t sit on the fence! Muslims are always on the side of the oppressed and they stand against the unjust.
  • Joining demonstrations and marches so the images of hundreds of thousands marching through the streets are beamed across the world and bring moral support to our brothers and sisters.
  • Donating to the charities working on the ground in these areas. Your donations are a lifeline for people who have lost all sense of normality. And don’t stop there, support those organisations and individuals that are articulating an empowering narrative of defiance against injustice and mercy to the oppressed.

CAGE call on all mosques and Islamic centres to dedicate their Eid khutbahs to Muslims facing and challenging oppression internationally.
