Putting Bodies on the Line: The Landscape of Direct Action and Civil Disobedience for Palestine in Britain

CAGE International’s new report, Putting Bodies on the Line, offers the first comprehensive analysis of direct action and civil disobedience for Palestine in the UK from 2020–2025. Drawing on 70+ documented actions, including 45 carried out by Palestine Action, the report demonstrates how strategic, morally anchored disruption has effectively exposed and disrupted Britain’s material support for Israeli violence. It details measurable impacts - factory closures, production delays, financial losses, and supply-chain withdrawals - showing that these outcomes were the result of disciplined targeting and sustained moral conviction. The report also tracks the state’s escalating repression: arrests, prosecutions, and the unprecedented proscription of Palestine Action, alongside repeated jury acquittals that highlight the public’s refusal to criminalise conscience. Putting Bodies on the Line argues that this movement has reshaped the political landscape strategically, proving that direct action can force accountability where institutions refuse to act.
