Palestinian prisoners force concessions as hunger strikes end, including solidarity strike by Mansoor Adayfi

London — After more than seventy days of sustained resistance, three pro-Palestinian prisoners have ended their hunger strike following the partial fulfilment of their demands.

Mansoor Adayfi, former Guantanamo prisoner and hunger striker who was also participating in a hunger strike in solidarity with the UK prisoners, has also announced an end to his hunger strike in light of these developments.

This outcome was not granted freely, but was extracted through extraordinary endurance, as the prisoners placed their lives at risk to confront a system built on arbitrary detention, medical neglect, and the routine denial of basic human rights. Hunger strikes emerge only when every other avenue has been closed - when law, oversight, and accountability have failed entirely.

The conclusion of this hunger strike should not be misrepresented as restraint or goodwill on the part of the occupying authorities. It is the result of pressure - from the prisoners themselves, from their families, and from a growing network of solidarity that refused to look away.

Mansoor Adayfi, Guantanamo Coordinator at CAGE international, said:

“Palestine Action activists acted because silence kills. They put their lives on the line and turned their bodies into weapons of truth. They risked everything to confront Israel's genocide in Gaza. Their hunger strike forced a victory. The British government dropped a two-billion-pound contract with Elbit Systems, a company arming the killing in Gaza.

This was not symbolism. This was pressure. Chains and walls knelt before their will. They gave everything to stop the machinery of death. They proved that resistance is not optional. It is a necessity of life today.

This is a lesson we cannot ignore. We must not give up. We must resist. There is always a way. Israeli genocide has not stopped, and neither will we.

Our duty is clear. Free our heroes, Palestine Action activists. Defend them. Secure their freedom. We owe them, we must act.”

At the same time, attention must now turn to Umer Khalid, the last remaining hunger striker, who continues to risk his life in protest of his imprisonment. His ongoing strike demands urgent scrutiny and sustained pressure until his rights, and those of all prisoners, are fully upheld.

This moment must sharpen international resolve. The rights of prisoners are not concessions to be wrung from starving bodies. They are obligations under international law.

The struggle continues until those obligations are met in full.
