“Mr. President: Free Muhammad Rahim from Guantanamo”
Support his mother’s appeal for release

BACKGROUND
Muhammad Rahim has spent over 19 years imprisoned in Guantanamo Bay without charge or trial.
Muhammad Rahim is an Afghan citizen born in the Chaparhar district of Nangarhar province. His family found refuge in Pakistan when he was just 12.
During the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan, aged just 16, he joined the mujahideen to defend his homeland, participating in efforts to protect villages from communist invasion.
After the Soviet withdrawal, Muhammad returned to his civilian life and worked as a school teacher, educating local children affected by conflict. Later, he continued to focus on social development in his community. Notably, he became the financial officer for Nangarhar Drug Control and Development Office, a UN agency dedicated to eradicating opium in the province. He also tended to tribal matters as a respected personality in his district.
In 2007, he was kidnapped in front of wife and children in Lahore, Pakistan. He was bundled into a jeep, and for 8 months he disappeared into the network of CIA secret prisons where he was subjected to human experimentation, beaten and starved. According to the US Senate "torture report", the torture of Muhammad Rahim produced no intelligence.
The US have stated they have no intention to charge him with a crime, yet declared him a "forever prisoner".
His imprisonment is not based on guilt but on policy.
Now in his 60’s, Muhammad Rahim longs to be reunited with his seven children.
His mother has appealed to President Donald J. Trump to free her son based on justice and humanitarian grounds.
The government of Afghanistan has released several American prisoners in a gesture of goodwill but the US government has not reciprocated these conciliatory actions.
Take action today across social media for Muhammad, and request US President Donald J. Trump to free Muhammad Rahim.
