Palestine Action proscription demands urgent abolition of authoritarian terrorism legislation

London - CAGE International condemns the proscription of direct-action campaign group, Palestine Action.
The decision was made this week following a vote by both the House of Commons and House of Lords on the matter. Palestine Action – an anti-genocide organisation - was inexplicably lumped together with two neo-Nazi groups.
The proscription will come into effect following the outcome of a hearing at the High Court on Friday, 4 July 2025, to decide whether the banning can be temporarily blocked.
The decision to proscribe Palestine Action is clear evidence that the very architecture of anti-terror legislation must be dismantled, as it has once again been subjected to abuse and distortion by politicians acting against overwhelming public opposition to such draconian measures.
In response, CAGE International’s Head of Public Advocacy, Anas Mustapha, said:
“The UK government has once again employed draconian anti-terrorism powers to continue its defence and support for the genocide in Gaza. It has never been more necessary to abolish the entire infrastructure of authoritarian terror laws, beginning with proscription powers.
“MPs and Lords have now voted in favour of Palestine Action’s proscription. This is a wholesale collapse of all sense and total political surrender to Zionist and permanent war lobbies that are exacting a genocide in Gaza.”
