CAGE has produced the following infographic based on statistics extracted from the 2015 European Union Terrorism Situation and Trend Report produced by Europol, which shows that the reality is far from the government’s scaremongering rhetoric.

In an open letter, over 280 prominent academics and public figures regarded the government’s PREVENT counter-terrorism strategy as flawed, dangerous and ill-informed.
In July 2015, David Cameron outlined his five-year strategy to tackle “Islamist extremism”, which he said was the “struggle of our generation”. In his conclusion, he compared the current situation to the threat represented by Hitler and communism, which together have made an estimated 100 million victims.
“Time and again we have stood up to aggression and tyranny”, he said.
